There is no single “Right Way” in UX

There is no single “Right Way” in UX

There is no single “Right Way” in UX

You may have seen a lot of diagrams, articles, courses, and videos telling you that there is a perfect method for doing UX, design, or development “the right way.”

The truth? There is no universal recipe.

Why is there no one-size-fits-all method?

Because each project, team, client, and product is different. What works perfectly in one context can fail completely in another.

Each process needs to be adapted to:

  • Your specific problem.
  • Your team’s context and constraints.
  • Your users’ needs.
  • Stakeholders and their requirements.

Diagrams and processes are just starting points

You know those UX or design diagrams and methods people post on social media daily? They are useful for inspiration, but not as definitive solutions.

Why?

  • They are not flexible: They rarely account for the real complexity of projects.
  • They are generalized: They oversimplify the process, ignoring the details that matter in real situations.
  • They cannot replace critical thinking: The best method is the one you create, tailored to your needs.

What you should do instead

  1. Be flexible:
    • Don’t get stuck in one way of working. Be willing to adjust processes to meet real requirements.
  2. Think critically:
    • Analyze the problem. What is the final goal? What constraints do you have? What resources can you use?
  3. Test and improve:
    • Any process you create must be tested and adjusted along the way. Learn from mistakes and perfect the method.
  4. Don’t get stuck with one method:
    • There is no “correct” universal way. Refuse to blindly follow a process just because “that’s how it’s done.”

Create your own path

Diagrams, methods, and guides are useful, but they are not magic solutions. Success comes from your ability to understand the context, be flexible, and find solutions tailored to your situation.

Don’t fall in love with a “correct” method. Use your sharp mind, adjust, and keep growing. The path that works is the one that meets your and your team’s needs.
